Hamworthy United vs Alresford Town

Saturday 17th October 2020

Wessex Premier League

Another entertaining match at the County Ground with plenty of goals, some great passing play from both sides. The visitors never gave up and kept pushing the hosts all the way. The officials were fair for both sides, all you can ask for at any match.

The Hammers came from behind after Magpies skipper Ashley Elson netted on 21 minutes to put the visitors ahead. They really turned on the style for 5 minutes with 3 goals to dent Alresfords confidence, Lee Francis on 35 minutes followed by two from Jamie Beasley on 38 and 40 minutes really livened the match up, but, the visitors hit back.

A 51st-minute goal the second for Elson had everyone thinking there is more in the tank for the Magpies but Dan Cann put the result beyond doubt with a 70th-minute goal to keep the Hammers pushing towards the top spot.

Prior to the match, there was an immaculate minutes silence in memory of Steve Harvey (1955-2020) former Hammers Chairman who sadly passed away recently.

RESULT: 4-2 (Francis 35′ Beasley 38′ 40′ Cann 70′) (Elson 21′ 51′)

Hammers: 67′ Cocklin for Clarke, 72′ Guthrie for Cann 82′ Munn for Beasley
Magpies: 29′ Evans for Augustus 62′ Wright for Phillips 74′ Reid for Bark
